The thickness and type of sewing thread are mainly determined by the yarn count and number of strands, where the higher the yarn count, the thinner the thread, and the more strands, the thicker the thread. Common models such as 402, 603, etc. have the first half of the number indicating the yarn count and the second half indicating the number of strands.
402: Twisted from 2 strands of 40 count yarn, it belongs to medium thickness and is suitable for most daily fabrics;
602: Twisted from 2 strands of 60 count yarn, with finer threads, suitable for lightweight fabrics such as chiffon and silk;
202/203: The thread is thicker and has high strength, commonly used in heavy materials such as denim and canvas.
Fine thread (such as 602): used for thin fabrics, with delicate stitches and invisible seams;
Medium thick thread (such as 402): universal type, suitable for common fabrics such as cotton and linen;
Coarse thread (such as 203): provides strong support and is suitable for sewing thick items such as bags and shoes.
