Product Description

Polyester Oxford fabric is constructed from continuous filament polyester yarns in a plain or warp-ribbed plain weave, then back-coated or laminated with polyurethane (PU) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) to control water penetration, improve abrasion resistance and stabilise the fabric structure. Deniers ranging from 210D to 1680D are produced on water‑jet looms, yielding a material that balances tensile strength, tear resistance and controlled stiffness. The coated surface can be engineered for hydrostatic pressure ratings above 1,000 mm (depending on denier and coating thickness), flame retardancy to NFPA 701 or EN 533, and UV resistance. Ningbo Derusen controls the greige weaving and finishing in its own facility, with production capacity of 60,000 linear metres per day and an MOQ of 1,500 metres per colour. Every production lot is traceable and tested for key physical properties as well as harmful substances under OEKO‑TEX® STANDARD 100.

Physical and mechanical properties

All tests are performed in Derusen’s internal laboratory on conditioned samples. While values vary with denier, coating type and colour, the following test methods are applied as a minimum:

  • Tensile strength (warp/weft): ISO 13934‑1 (grab method) – the coated fabric regularly exceeds 1,500 N/5 cm in heavier deniers.
  • Tear strength: ISO 13937‑2 (single tear method) – balanced warp‑weft tear resistance for seam integrity.
  • Hydrostatic pressure: ISO 811 – PU‑coated 600D typically achieves ≥ 800 mm; higher values available with double‑coating.
  • Dimensional stability: Shrinkage ≤ 2% (warp) and ≤ 1% (weft) after washing at 40°C per ISO 6330.
  • Colour fastness: Assessed to ISO 105‑C06 (washing), ISO 105‑X12 (rubbing), ISO 105‑B02 (light) and ISO 105‑E04 (perspiration).
  • Flame retardancy (optional): NFPA 701, EN 533, or EN 13501‑1 depending on final application.

Laboratory testing and quality assurance

Before release, every dye lot is sampled and evaluated against the following criteria. Results are linked to the batch number for full traceability:

The entire Oxford fabric range is certified to OEKO‑TEX® STANDARD 100, confirming that every component—polyester yarn, dye chemicals and coating—has been tested for substances harmful to human health. The certification is renewed annually and facilitates compliance with EU REACH and other international textile regulations. On request, a copy of the valid certificate can be provided with the shipment documents.

Customisation and supply chain

Derusen operates its own weaving and coating lines, which enables direct control over colour matching, coating formulation and packaging. OEM orders are accepted with the following flexibility:

How do I choose between different deniers like 210D, 600D or 1680D?

Denier (D) indicates the linear mass of the yarn. A higher denier generally means a thicker, heavier and more tear‑resistant fabric. 210D and 420D are often used for lightweight backpack linings or promotional bags. 600D and 900D are common for mid‑weight luggage shells and tool pouches. 1200D and 1680D are selected where maximum abrasion resistance and rigidity are required, such as heavy‑duty tool bags or industrial covers. What type of coating is used and what hydrostatic rating can I expect?

Our standard Oxford fabric is back‑coated with polyurethane (PU). Under ISO 811 testing, 600D PU‑coated fabric typically achieves a hydrostatic head of ≥ 800 mm. Higher values (1,000 mm and above) can be obtained with a double‑coating process or by switching to a PVC coating. Custom coating formulations, including breathable microporous PU, are also available on request.

Can I order a custom colour or printed design?

Yes. For solid colours, we offer a lab‑dip matching service against a Pantone reference or physical sample. Digital printing and water‑based pigment printing are supported for custom patterns and logos. The minimum order quantity for printed fabric is the same as stock colours (1,500 metres per colour), although a small surcharge for plate‑making may apply on first print run.

Do you provide free samples and how long does it take?

We supply free A4‑size swatches of stock qualities for initial evaluation. The customer covers the courier cost or provides a collect account. Sample requests are typically dispatched within 1–2 working days. For custom colours, a lab‑dip swatch is prepared first, which may add 2–3 working days before the physical sample ships.

What is the typical MOQ and lead time for a new order?

The MOQ is 1,500 metres per colour. For stock shades, goods are usually ready to ship within 15 working days after order confirmation. Custom colours require an additional lab‑dip approval step that adds roughly 3–5 working days before the bulk lead time starts. Smaller trial quantities can sometimes be arranged; please contact the sales team for a specific request.

Is flame‑retardant or other functional treatment available?

Yes. We can apply flame‑retardant back‑coatings certified to NFPA 701, EN 533, or other recognised standards. Additional finishes such as anti‑static, anti‑bacterial, and durable water repellent (DWR) can be incorporated into the coating formulation or applied as a post‑treatment. Every dye lot is tested in‑house before shipment.
