Product Description

Derusen PP spunbond non woven fabric is manufactured from continuous polypropylene filaments that are extruded, spun and thermally bonded into a flat, porous sheet. The process creates a fabric with isotropic tensile strength, uniform weight distribution and controlled air permeability, without the use of chemical binders. The material is inherently hydrophobic, resistant to microbial attack and recyclable. It is supplied in roll form with widths ranging from 100 cm to 150 cm and basis weights between 20 g/m² and 155 g/m². Typical applications include garment interlining, medical disposables, filtration media, agricultural covering, packaging and hygiene products. All grades are certified to OEKO‑TEX® STANDARD 100, ensuring they are free from harmful substances and suitable for direct skin contact.

Physical properties and quality control

Routine tests are performed in‑house on every production lot according to the following methods:

  • Basis weight (g/m²): EN 29073‑1 / ASTM D3776
  • Tensile strength (MD & CD): EN 29073‑3 / ASTM D5035 – grab method
  • Elongation at break: measured simultaneously with tensile test
  • Tear resistance: EN 29073‑4 (single tear method)
  • Air permeability: EN ISO 9237 (pressure differential 100 Pa)
  • Dimensional stability (shrinkage): hot air and steam method per ISO 6330
  • Colour fastness: to washing (ISO 105‑C06), rubbing (ISO 105‑X12), light (ISO 105‑B02)
  • pH value and formaldehyde content: per OEKO‑TEX requirements

All test results are linked to a unique batch number for full traceability. Derusen’s non‑woven fabric production line has a capacity of 4.5 million linear metres per month, which allows consistent supply and short lead times for repeat orders.

Typical application areas

Garment interlining made of PP spunbond
Garment & shirt interlining
Non woven fabric used in bag reinforcement
Bag & luggage reinforcement
Non woven interlining in home textiles
Home textile stiffening
Non woven fabric for tent backing
Medical, filtration & agriculture

Beyond apparel interlining, the same spunbond platform can supply grades suitable for medical isolation gowns, surgical drapes, face mask layers (non‑filter), agricultural row covers, tablecloths, mattress backing and industrial wipes. Custom finishes such as antistatic, hydrophilic or flame retardant broaden the utility of the fabric.

Certification and compliance

OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification for PP spunbond fabric

All PP spunbond non woven fabric supplied by Derusen carries the OEKO‑TEX® STANDARD 100 label. Independent testing verifies that the material contains no harmful levels of restricted substances such as formaldehyde, heavy metals or phthalates. The certificate is renewed annually and supports customers in meeting REACH, CPSIA and other international product safety standards. A valid certificate copy can be included in shipment documentation upon request.

Customisation and supply flexibility

Derusen operates its own spunbond production and coating lines, which enables direct control over weight, width, colour and functional finishes. OEM arrangements are standard:

  • Custom weight from 12 g/m² up to 200 g/m²
  • Slit widths down to 5 mm tolerance
  • Additives: UV stabiliser, flame retardant, antistatic, antimicrobial
  • Printing: brand logo or pattern on the fabric (flexographic or rotogravure)
  • Private labelling on rolls and packaging

Free sample rolls (A4 swatch or small roll) are available for technical evaluation; the customer pays the courier cost. For custom colours or finishes, a pre‑production sample can be arranged before bulk order confirmation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What weight range is available and how do I choose the right one?

Standard production covers 20 g/m² to 155 g/m². Lightweight grades (20–40 g/m²) are often used for disposable garments, hygiene products or agricultural fleece. Medium weights (50–80 g/m²) suit interlining and packaging. Heavier grades (100 g/m² and above) are selected for structured interlining, reinforcement or industrial applications where stiffness and tear resistance are required. If you are unsure, we can supply a sample set across the range for direct comparison.

Is the fabric suitable for garment interlining and what fusing conditions are recommended?

Yes. When used as a fusible interlining with a suitable adhesive coating, typical fusing parameters are: temperature 135–140 °C, pressure 3.0–3.5 kg/cm², and dwell time 15–18 seconds. These conditions can vary slightly depending on the shell fabric and adhesive type; we recommend a small‑scale fusing trial before bulk production.

Can you supply colours other than black and white?

Yes. Custom colours are achieved by adding masterbatch during the extrusion process. A minimum order quantity of 5 000 metres per colour applies for non‑stock shades. A lab‑dip or colour sample can be prepared for approval before bulk production starts.

Are functional treatments such as flame retardant or anti‑static available?

Yes. The spunbond line can incorporate functional additives including UV stabilisers, antistatic agents, antimicrobials and flame retardants. For flame‑retardant grades, we can test to relevant standards such as EN 13501‑1 or NFPA 701 upon request. Please specify the exact standard and performance level you need so we can confirm feasibility.

What is the typical MOQ and delivery time?

The minimum order quantity is 5 000 metres per weight and colour. For stock white or black, delivery is within 15 working days after order confirmation and receipt of payment. Custom colours or functional finishes may add 3–5 working days for sample approval before the bulk lead time begins. Smaller trial quantities can sometimes be accommodated—please contact our sales team to discuss.

Is the fabric certified for safety and what tests are performed?

All PP spunbond non woven fabric is certified to OEKO‑TEX® STANDARD 100, meaning it has been independently tested and found free of harmful levels of restricted substances. In‑house quality control on each production lot covers basis weight, tensile strength, elongation, tear resistance, air permeability and shrinkage. Test results are linked to a batch number for traceability.

Can I receive a sample and what are the conditions?

We provide free A4 swatches or small sample rolls of standard grades for evaluation. The customer is responsible for the courier cost or can provide a collect account number. Samples are normally dispatched within 1–2 working days. For custom colours or functional finishes, a pre‑production sample may take 3–5 additional working days.
