Water Soluble Sewing Thread

Water-solubility‌: Water soluble sewing thread can completely dissolve in water at a specific temperature. The dissolution temperature can be set according to product specifications. Common types include 20℃ normal temperature quick-dissolving type and 40℃ warm water slow-dissolving type, etc.‌

‌Environmental friendliness‌: Water soluble sewing thread is usually made of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) or vinylon (modified polyvinyl alcohol), and after dissolving in water, it has no odor, is non-toxic, and the water solution is colorless and transparent, and can be naturally biodegraded within a short period of time.‌

‌Physical properties‌: Water soluble sewing thread has good mechanical strength, toughness, and resistance to acid, alkali, and dry heat. During processing, it can provide reliable temporary support.‌

Main application fields

As a "temporary" material, water soluble sewing thread is widely used in multiple fields that require trace-free processing:

Textile Embroidery and Clothing: In embroidery techniques, it is used as temporary positioning lines or underlays. After the embroidery is completed, the water-soluble lines are treated with water, which causes the lines to dissolve, separating the embroidered pattern from the base fabric. There is no need for manual disassembly and no thread marks remain.

In clothing sewing, it can be used for temporary loose seams or patch fixation in areas such as pleats, cuffs, and pockets. After washing, the thread marks disappear automatically.

High-grade Fabric Production: As "auxiliary spinning fibers", it is blended or interwoven with wool, cotton, linen, polyester, etc. After weaving into a base fabric, water-soluble treatment is carried out to remove the water-soluble fibers, thereby obtaining pure natural fabrics with higher counts, thinner and softer texture, or with special effects such as perforation and jacquard.

Industrial and Other Applications: It is used for three-dimensional sewing of seamless underwear, layering and bonding of industrial fabrics, etc., to ensure a smooth and seamless appearance of the finished product.

It is also applied in fishing line sets (dissolves in water to facilitate hook bites), toy manufacturing, weaving fishing nets, and other fields.

Product Specifications and Selection

Water soluble sewing thread products have different specifications and models. The main distinction lies in the water-soluble temperature and thread material form (such as long fibers, short fibers). Users need to make a selection based on the dissolution temperature required by the processing method (such as normal temperature cold water or warm water) and the performance requirements of the final product.

Common commercial specifications include the "402" model, usually in white, with lengths of 1000 meters and 3000 meters in rolls.
